Setting Up Custom Hostnames
SessionCam records and reports on sessions based on the hostname(s) of your website. For example, if your hostname is "http://www.example.com", then we will assign that hostname to your account so that only users of your account can see session data for that hostname (and only relevant users can configure recording rules for that hostname).
In certain situations you may want create a "custom hostname" for us to use rather than using your actual hostname(s) for recording/reporting purposes. Two common situations where you may want to do this are as follows:
- If you have a really long hostname
e.g. if your website hostname is "http://subdomain.this-is-a-really-long-example.com", it may be "neater" for us to report on this as "http://www.example.com
- If your website has many hostnames
e.g. if you want to record http://www.example.com, http://subdomain1.example.com, http://subdomain2.example.com etc., then you could set the custom hostname to "http://www.all-example.com" (and as such report/record under one hostname rather than multiple ones).
Implementing a custom hostname
if(!window.sessioncamConfiguration) window.sessioncamConfiguration = new Object(); window.sessioncamConfiguration.SessionCamHostname= 'http://www.example.com' </script>
